PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful applicant will join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as a Rocket Propulsion Engineer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division, Indian Head, MD. You'll have an opportunity to work on world-class military programs that support the US Navy's Warfare technology providing technical assistance to develop and execute models and simulations, post-processing and analyses of CFD simulations, and modeling & simulation support for all program phases including;
  • Perform CFD/FEA analyses on propulsion system and projectiles
  • Perform CFD computations using a variety of Government and commercial codes
  • Plan and interpret data from small-scale and large-scale tests
  • Prepare CFD/FEA analyses and study reports
  • Enhance, update, and validate in-house codes
  • Provide technical and logistics support during all program phases
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Physics
  • Minimum 3-5 years of CFD experience required
  • Modeling experience with CFD code development is required
  • Advance degree preferred
  • Job experience with the Navy or other DoD laboratories is a plus
SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge and experience with rocket propulsion systems
  • Experiences with programming languages such as C, FORTRAN 90, and MATLAB
  • Experiences with simulation tools such as ANSYS Fluent and CFD++
  • Experiences with generating CFD meshes for complex geometries
  • Some travel may be required
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation. Current successful background investigation completion is a plus.
