Major Duties

***This Quality Engineer position requires a self-starter; an individual with an ability to manage assigned work, interface with a diverse team, maintain a positive impact on quality, with strategic thinking and resourceful problem solving. This position reports to the CSO Quality Manager located in Irvine, Calif. but the individual may not be required to relocate (TBD).   • Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality standards for products and processes. Provides diverse and complex quality assurance information driving improvement by determining requirements and applicable criteria. Responsible to guide technical and operational evaluations, analysis with relevant information/data.

    Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the AS9100 (ISO 9001:2015) Aerospace Standard for Aviation, Space, and Defense organizations.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 15%. (Approx. 30 days travel). Project responsibilities often require work and/or travel outside of normal business hours.
  • Knowledge of CFR s and FAR s as they apply to Aviation Manufacturing and Repair Station work (Codified Federal Aviation Regulations (CFR s) & Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)).
  • Quality Assurance role in Aerospace Manufacturing/Maintenance or applicable industry experience (ASQ or FAA Certifications preferred).
  • Knowledge of U.S. Government FAR s / DFAR s as they apply to Aviation Manufacturing and Repair (Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • The ability to understand complex operational, functional, and regulatory issues and to be able to convey effectively to non-technical oriented stakeholders.
  • Ability to independently manage assigned work, maintain internal and external customer satisfaction, and interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to develop and base decisions substantiated on Civilian or Military regulation, Corporate Policy s, and applicable Statutory Laws.
  • Communication skills - both a verbal and written ability to effectively communicate, and influence, all audiences.
  • High level of organization, ensuring the satisfactory conclusion of responsibilities within a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively innovate and take an existing team to the next-level by evaluating current state and identifying/implementing actions to address opportunities.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor s degree (BS) in Engineering or a related technical discipline. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through six or more years of related experience. American Society for Quality certification desired. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art inspection and quality inspection and quality engineering/assurance techniques, procedures, instruments, equipment, theories, principles and concepts and general business operations. Knowledge of aerospace industry or similar industry products and legal and regulatory requirements related to field.
  • Ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement techniques to quality and manufacturing functions. Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools. Ability to work on a variety of problems of diverse scope and complexity where analysis and evaluation of various outcomes require tradeoffs and negotiation.
  • Ability to solve a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways and evaluate alternative solutions that may require coordination across multiple teams. Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects. Ability to routinely apply project management skills and to effectively use project scheduling computer software programs. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, policies and recommend changes to procedures. Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management.
  • Ability to respond to significant inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
